End-of-summer flea market by the Comité des Fêtes de Ploubazlanec in September, football field
Each year in early September, the Comité des Fêtes de Ploubazlanec organizes its second flea market of the year on the football field, rue du Pouldu. After the spring edition in May, this end-of-summer flea market marks the end of the summer season in the Paimpol region. Between 50 and 100 exhibitors set up to offer second-hand items, antiques, and treasures to bargain hunters from the Goëlo region.
Ploubazlanec is a coastal commune in the Goëlo region, whose maritime heritage is inseparable from the history of Icelandic fishing. The Wall of the Lost at Sea, in the cemetery, pays tribute to the 2,000 Paimpol sailors lost between 1852 and 1935. From the Pointe de l'Arcouest, visitors can admire breathtaking panoramas of the Bréhat archipelago, the "island of flowers." This maritime setting gives the September flea market a special atmosphere, between the end of summer and the gentle Breton autumn.
The Comité des Fêtes offers full catering throughout the day: sandwiches, grills, fries, cakes, and crepes, all accompanied by a drinks stand. Exhibitors receive free coffee to start their day well. Entry is free for visitors, and tables are not provided.
