Large flea market on August 15th in the village of Ahun with over 100 exhibitors
August 15th, the Assumption Day, is traditionally one of the biggest flea market days in France. In Ahun, this tradition takes on a special dimension: over 100 exhibitors take over the village streets and squares for one of the largest flea markets in the Creuse department. From 7 am to 6 pm, the center of Ahun transforms into a vast flea market where seasoned professionals and individuals clearing out their attics mingle.
Stalls are set up along the streets of Bourg d'Ahun, offering a treasure hunt amidst preserved architectural heritage. The Romanesque church, the old granite houses, and the medieval bridge over the Creuse form a striking backdrop for this flea market day. You can find regional furniture, Limoges porcelain tableware, old tools, books, vintage toys, trinkets, and collectibles of all kinds.
In parallel with the flea market, the Ahun town hall hosts an exhibition of vintage toys on its premises. Miniatures, vintage trucks, and collectible toys are on display, much to the delight of collectors and nostalgic visitors. This exhibition adds a cultural dimension to the flea market day and is an additional attraction for visitors.
Meals are offered on-site at a very affordable price of 6 euros per person, including a sandwich, fries, and a drink. Parking is free for vehicles. The rates for exhibitors, at 2.50 euros per linear meter, remain reasonable for an event of this scale. Registrations are made through the tourist office, which coordinates the organization of the event.
