Every spring, the village of Jouy (Eure-et-Loir, 28300) transforms for a Sunday into a vast flea and car boot market. The annual bric-à-brac brings together up to 150 exhibitors — individuals and professionals — in the center of the village, for a day of outdoor unpacking open to all.

The event generally takes place from 7 am to 6:30 pm, allowing early risers to find the best deals at dawn. Exhibitors offer a wide variety of goods: country and period furniture, tableware, books, clothing, toys, trinkets, tools, and decorative objects. Entry is free for visitors. Booking is mandatory for exhibitors, at a rate of €10 for 3 meters of space. Food stands are not accepted.

An event rooted in community life

The Jouy bric-à-brac is organized by the municipality of Jouy itself, which handles communication and logistics. The event is known as the Bric-à-brac jovien and has established itself as the quintessential festive event of this Beauceron village. Over the editions — the 20th was celebrated — it has built a loyal following of regular bargain hunters while attracting new visitors.

The bric-à-brac is integrated into the fabric of local life and contributes to the village's animation. It is an opportunity for residents to clear out their attics and meet their neighbors in a good-natured atmosphere.
