About Bourse à Vélo Saint-Céré

Organized by the association Le Vélotonome, a solidarity and participatory bicycle workshop in Saint-Céré, the Bourse à Vélo is held every May 1st in the Place de la République. Individuals and buyers meet to sell or acquire second-hand bicycles, revised and diagnosed by the association. A social and ecological initiative in the heart of the northeast Lot.

The Vélotonome Bicycle Market, a social initiative in Saint-Céré

Every May 1st, the Place de la République in Saint-Céré (46400) hosts the Bourse à Vélo organized by the association Le Vélotonome. This solidarity and participatory bicycle workshop, rooted in the local life of Saint-Céré and its region, offers this exchange day as a highlight of the commune's spring activities, coinciding with the traditional May 1st car boot sale.

Le Vélotonome: a solidarity workshop for soft mobility

The association Le Vélotonome, whose workshop is located at Quai du Puits de Larribe (near the EHPAD du Pré d'Aubié), has been working for several years to promote cycling and soft mobility in the Lot. The association collects bicycles donated by individuals, revises and repairs them, then offers them for sale. The Bourse à Vélo is one of the highlights of its activities, allowing residents to sell or buy second-hand bicycles in a transparent and secure environment.

How does the Bicycle Market work?

The principle of the Vélotonome Bourse à Vélo is simple and reassuring for participants. Sellers can drop off their bicycles on the morning of the event (a contribution of €2 per bicycle is requested). The association draws up a sales sheet with the seller's contact details and diagnoses the bicycle's condition. Potential buyers can test the proposed bicycles and contact the sellers directly to conclude the transaction. Unsold bicycles must be collected before 5 PM.

A day to combine with the May 1st car boot sale

The Bourse à Vélo is held on the same day as the big May 1st car boot sale in Saint-Céré, also on the Place de la République. This happy coincidence allows visitors to enjoy both events in a single visit. For cycling and two-wheeler enthusiasts, the day is complemented by the Grande Montée, a friendly cycling race organized the same weekend in the surrounding area.
