Spring garage sale organized by the FRB in the streets of Bombon village
The annual Bombon garage sale is a traditional May Day event in southern Seine-et-Marne. Organized by the FRB in the village center, it extends along Rue de Mormant, Rue de l'Église, and the school courtyard, and welcomes around 75 individual exhibitors. A festive and popular morning of bargain hunting in a preserved village setting, halfway between Melun and Provins, where families and bargain hunters take advantage of spring to find their treasures.
Every May 1st, the village of Bombon in Seine-et-Marne celebrates spring with its annual garage sale, which has become a true local ritual over the years. Organized by the FRB (local association), the event takes over the heart of the village along Rue de Mormant, Rue de l'Église, and the school courtyard. This layout allows visitors to wander freely between stalls while enjoying the charm of the Brie village.
With around 75 individual exhibitors, the Bombon garage sale maintains a family-friendly and convivial dimension. Far from major commercial events, this is a true neighborhood flea market where residents come to empty their attics and share a festive moment with their neighbors. Stalls offer a bit of everything: children's clothing and toys, antique dishware, books, vinyl records, small furniture, tools, decorative items, and trinkets of all kinds. Prices are generally very accessible.
Bombon is a small rural town located in the Brie nangissienne, halfway between Melun and Provins. The village retains an interesting heritage with its old church and preserved center. The surrounding region is marked by typical Brie landscapes: large cereal plains, woods, traditional farms, and well-maintained villages. Bombon also has the particularity of having housed, in 1918, the headquarters of Marshal Foch during the First World War, a historical fact that has marked local memory.
The choice of May 1st for this event is not insignificant: it is traditionally a holiday in France, conducive to family walks and spring outings. The Bombon garage sale fits perfectly into this festive tradition and offers the ideal opportunity to combine a village stroll, lily of the valley shopping, and morning bargain hunting. Many visitors come from neighboring towns but also from Melun, Provins, and even further away, drawn by the friendly reputation of this event.
A visit to the Bombon garage sale can easily be extended by discovering the surrounding treasures: the nearby Vaux-le-Vicomte château, the medieval city of Provins (UNESCO), Fontainebleau and its royal château, or the typical Brie villages. Southern Seine-et-Marne is a region rich in heritage and landscapes, and May 1st is an ideal time to discover it, as nature awakens and villages come alive.
