Annual flea market in the medieval fortified village of Bergheim, on the Alsace Wine Route
Each year, the fortified medieval village of Bergheim (68750) hosts its unmissable Flea Market, one of the most popular summer events on the Alsace Wine Route. The 2026 edition is scheduled for Saturday, August 15th, 2026, in the historic streets of the village, notably Rue du Pressoir and Rue du Pelzkappel, from 7 AM to 6 PM. Contact: [email protected].
Bergheim is one of the best-preserved villages of medieval Alsace. This town of some 1,800 inhabitants is encircled by a remarkable set of medieval ramparts, still largely intact, with its towers, fortified gates, and curtain walls. Located approximately 5 km north of Ribeauvillé and 15 km south of Sélestat, it occupies a central position on the Alsace Wine Route. Its cobbled streets, half-timbered houses, and Gothic church make it a leading tourist site in the Haut-Rhin.
Rue du Pressoir and Rue du Pelzkappel, which host the flea market, are two of the most picturesque streets in the village. Their medieval atmosphere gives the event a unique character, where flea market stalls stand alongside flowered facades and centuries-old winegrowers' houses.
The choice of August 15th as the date for the Bergheim flea market is traditional: on this public holiday of Assumption Day, right in the heart of the Alsatian tourist season, families and tourists passing through the Wine Route take advantage of their day to stroll and hunt for bargains. Attendance is naturally high and the atmosphere festive. The market opens early, from 7 AM, for early birds looking for the best deals, and continues until 6 PM in the evening, offering a full day of strolling and discovery.
The Bergheim Flea Market welcomes both private individuals wishing to clear out their attics and experienced professionals and antique dealers. The stalls offer an impressive diversity of goods: antique furniture, crockery, household linen, clothes, books, tools, toys, vinyl records, trinkets, silverware, paintings, and curiosities. The long tradition of this market gives it a reputation for quality that attracts bargain hunters from all over the Alsace region and even beyond.
For any information regarding pitches or organization, interested parties can contact the organizers at the email address [email protected]. The market takes place outdoors, in the village streets, with free admission for visitors.
From Ribeauvillé, take the D35 north for about 5 km. From Sélestat, take the D35 south for about 15 km. Parking in surrounding streets and on the outskirts of the village.
Bergheim is served by regional bus lines (Fluo Grand Est network) from Ribeauvillé and Sélestat.
