About Barjac Fair

Twice a year since 1972, the Barjac Antiques and Flea Market Fair has brought together over 400 exhibitors for five days under the century-old plane trees of the Renaissance village. The 104th edition will be held at Easter and around August 15th. French and international professionals and collectors meet at Place Charles Guynet in this major antiques hub in the South of France.

The Barjac Antiques and Flea Market Fair, a legendary event in the Gard

Since 1972, the Barjac Antiques and Flea Market Fair has been one of the most important events in the flea market world in the South of France. Twice a year, at Easter and around August 15th, for five days each time, over 400 professional exhibitors take over the Place Charles Guynet and the alleys of the village of Barjac, in the Gard Cevenol region. Collectors, antique dealers, decorators, and enthusiasts of old objects from all over France and Europe gather in this Renaissance village, a crossroads of decorative arts.

A history born from mining reconversion

The Barjac fair was born from the will of one man: Jean Tassy, mayor of Barjac and antique dealer, who launched the first edition in 1972 to compensate for the economic decline following the closure of the region's mines. The success was immediate. From 1974, the event became institutionalized with two annual sessions, and it has continued to grow in reputation and notoriety ever since. It celebrates its 104th edition today, a testament to its exceptional longevity.

Barjac, a Renaissance village with century-old plane trees

Barjac is a village of great beauty in the Gard region, located at the crossroads of Ardèche and Gard, on the edge of the garrigue and the Cévennes. Its history dates back to antiquity; in the Middle Ages, it was an important fortified center before being entirely rebuilt in the Renaissance, giving the town its refined and homogeneous architecture. The Place Charles Guynet, shaded by century-old plane trees, is the nerve center of the fair, where stalls extend under exceptional greenery in a unique atmosphere blending art, history, and conviviality.

A quality selection, professionals and collectors

The Barjac fair attracts exhibitors from all over France and Europe, offering a top-tier selection: 18th and 19th-century furniture, regional ceramics and earthenware, glassware and crystal, art objects, paintings, sculptures, antique jewelry, rare books, prints, antique toys, and decorative arts. The constant quality of the selection and the warm and relaxed atmosphere of the village make Barjac a fair that stands out from the major Parisian shows with its authenticity and its roots in the southern tradition.
