Bargain hunting at the foot of Auvillar's round hall
Bargain hunting in Auvillar means much more than just a flea market. Classified among the Most Beautiful Villages of France since 1994, this town perched on a rocky promontory overlooking the Garonne reveals an exceptional heritage: its famous round hall with Tuscan columns built in 1825, its Clock Tower, its Saint-Pierre church, its river port and its half-timbered houses.
The APEEA (Association of Parents of Pupils of the Schools of Auvillar) mobilises a team of volunteers each year. The proceeds finance educational projects, school outings, teaching materials and children's activities at the Auvillar schools.
Private individuals and occasional dealers offer a wide range of items: clothing, shoes, toys, books, crockery, small appliances, vinyl records, trinkets, small furniture and baby items. The perfect opportunity for families to refresh their children's wardrobe or hunt for treasures at low prices.
After shopping, take time to wander through the village. Auvillar was a major faience production centre from the 18th to the early 20th century. The belvedere over the Garonne offers a spectacular view of the valley.
