The monthly meeting place for Ardèche treasure hunters

Every 2nd Sunday of the month, the Place de la Libération in Annonay transforms into a lively and friendly flea market. Organized for several years by the association Les Vieux Quartiers d'Annonay, this event brings together about thirty exhibitors - individuals wanting to clear out their attics and flea market professionals - offering a wide selection of found objects: old tableware, furniture, trinkets, books, vintage clothing, tools, toys, vinyl records, and all sorts of forgotten treasures.

The market opens its doors to visitors from 7 am and continues until 3 pm. Exhibitors can set up from 5:30 am, supervised by the association's volunteers. Entry is completely free for the public, and a small refreshment stand (coffee, pastries) is available on-site to start the morning well. Dogs on a leash are welcome.

Place de la Libération, the historical setting for the market

The market is held in the heart of the historic center of Annonay, on the Place de la Libération, a large square bordered by the town hall and dominated by the famous statue of the Montgolfier brothers. This emblematic square overlooks the Parc Mignot and its French gardens, offering a remarkable setting for exhibitors and visitors. In the shade of the century-old plane trees, the flea market atmosphere takes on the air of a Provençal stroll, just a stone's throw from the medieval streets of the old town.

Annonay, city of inventors and capital of northern Ardèche

Annonay is the largest town in the northern Ardèche department, with nearly 17,000 inhabitants. Located at the confluence of the Cance and Deûme rivers, it prospered thanks to the leather and paper industries. But Annonay is above all known worldwide as the birthplace of the invention of the hot air balloon: it was here that the brothers Joseph and Étienne Montgolfier made the first public flight of a hot air balloon on June 4, 1783, forever marking the history of aviation.

The historic center of Annonay, traversed by a 2.2 km heritage trail marked with 17 explanatory panels, holds many architectural treasures: private mansions, chapels, fountains, and covered passages bear witness to a rich history and a flourishing commercial past. The flea market naturally fits into this commercial and popular tradition of the city.

The association Les Vieux Quartiers d'Annonay

Founded to liven up and promote the old quarters of the town, the association Les Vieux Quartiers d'Annonay organizes and manages the monthly flea market with care and friendliness. It ensures a good atmosphere at the market, welcomes exhibitors at dawn, and offers breakfast and snacks to participants. Stall spaces are charged at 2 euros per linear meter for exhibitors.
