Spring bargain hunt in Albias village
In the heart of Albias, a charming Tarn-et-Garonne village set between Montauban and Caussade, the spring flea market gathers villagers and visitors in an authentically rural atmosphere every year. Held at the multipurpose hall and around it, it offers hunters a varied domestic selection at gentle prices, in the restful Quercy setting. A perfect morning to combine bargain hunting, bastide strolling and discovery of the Quercy blanc countryside.
Albias, a village of nearly two thousand inhabitants on the right bank of the Aveyron, halfway between Montauban and Caussade, hosts its traditional spring flea market each year. Organised by local associations, the March event takes over the multipurpose hall and its esplanade, in a quiet rural setting typical of Quercy villages.
Sellers, residents of Albias and surrounding villages such as Réalville, Cayrac or Lamothe-Capdeville, lay out crockery, trinkets, books, toys, clothes of all sizes, baby gear, family brocante, small furniture and tools. A few semi-professionals add vintage furniture or collectibles. The typical countryside-flea-market eclecticism makes the charm.
Choosing the multipurpose hall as the focal point secures the event against March's whims: if rain arrives, sellers and visitors find shelter indoors. Outdoor pitches on the esplanade and adjoining streets extend capacity when weather allows.
Albias deserves a stop beyond the flea market. Its church of Saint-Jean-Baptiste, quiet alleys and proximity to the Aveyron valley make it a pleasant stage. The orchards of Réalville and the medieval village of Bruniquel are nearby.
For the village spirit, gentle prices, quality finds and warm welcome from the volunteers: the Albias flea market ticks every box.
