The Ascension Thursday flea market for the Abbeville running club
The Abbeville Club Courir Réderie is part of this fine tradition of associative events allowing local sports clubs to fund their activities. Each year, on Ascension Thursday, this rendezvous combines bargain hunting pleasure and support for the athletics club.
Club Courir d'Abbeville is a local sports association dedicated to running in all its forms. Like many local athletics clubs, it relies on volunteer commitment and occasional events.
The choice of Ascension Thursday is not trivial: this May public holiday is traditionally a prized moment for Picardy bargain hunting events.
Abbeville is the sub-prefecture of the Somme and the main town of the Ponthieu. Former cloth-making city, it is a historic town by the Somme river, a few kilometres from the Bay of Somme.
Like all réderies organized by clubs, this one stands out for its solidarity atmosphere. Volunteers provide welcome, refreshments and food. Proceeds are entirely reinvested in club activities.
