39th Matougues Flea Market — Festival Committee, 200-300 exhibitors (51510)
The Matougues Flea Market has entered the category of reference flea market events in the Marne region. Organized by the Festival Committee of this rural commune located near Châlons-en-Champagne, it brings together between 200 and 300 exhibitors each year, making it one of the most important flea markets in its sector. Its 39th edition confirms the vitality and longevity of an event that, year after year, has managed to build loyalty among discerning bargain hunters and attract new visitors.
The number of exhibitors — between 200 and 300 depending on the edition — is the primary guarantee of this flea market's success. It ensures a diverse and abundant offering, covering the entire spectrum of traditional flea markets: antique and rustic furniture, crockery and earthenware, glassware, silverware, paintings and prints, books, records, collectible toys, cameras, antique textiles, tools, and various antiques. Professionals and individuals find themselves side by side, offering visitors a complete panorama of what French flea markets have to offer.
Matougues (51510) is a Champagne village in the Marne region, located in the Châlons-Champagne-et-der community of communes, in the heart of the chalky Champagne plain. This agricultural area, marked by vast expanses of wheat and sugar beet, is also the setting for dynamic rural life, of which the annual Flea Market is one of the most visible and celebrated expressions.
On the day of the flea market, Matougues lives to the rhythm of the exhibitors who set up at dawn and the visitors who flock from all over the region. The village transforms for a day into a large open-air market, animated by discussions between bargain hunters and sellers, friendly negotiations, and unexpected discoveries. The atmosphere is that of the great Champagne rural flea markets, both popular and festive, where conviviality mixes with a passion for antique objects.
The Festival Committee of Matougues is the driving force behind this event. Composed of dedicated volunteers, it ensures the logistical organization of the event: exhibitor registration, stall layout, setup and dismantling, on-site presence, and communication. It is thanks to this volunteer commitment that the Matougues flea market can maintain its quality and attractiveness over the years.
The revenue generated by the flea market feeds the Festival Committee's coffers and helps finance other village life activities throughout the year. In this sense, the Matougues flea market is much more than a simple commercial event: it is an act of community solidarity and a lever for the rural dynamism of the commune.
