About Bischo'fescht Flea Market

The 28th Bischo'fescht Flea Market is one of the highlights of the traditional patron saint's festival of Bischoffsheim, a wine-growing town of around 3,200 inhabitants at the foot of Mont Sainte-Odile. This large flea market spreads along the rue Principale and place Saint-Rémy, gathering numerous private exhibitors offering clothing, toys, books, trinkets, crockery, tools, small furniture and all sorts of objects at bargain prices. Musical entertainment — Alsatian folklore, bloosmusik, jazz and international variety — punctuates the day on the square, while refreshments and catering offer grills and chips throughout the day. An unmissable event for bargain hunters from the Vosges foothills.

The Bischo'fescht, Bischoffsheim's patron saint's festival

The Bischo'fescht is the traditional patron saint's festival of Bischoffsheim, celebrated each year in early July. This village festival blends Alsatian traditions, musical entertainment and conviviality, all in the picturesque setting of this wine-growing town at the foot of Mont Sainte-Odile. The flea market, celebrating its 28th edition, is the flagship event of the Bischo'fescht: it attracts hundreds of bargain hunters from Barr, Obernai, Rosheim, Sélestat and the wider region.

A lively flea market on the rue Principale

The flea market spreads along the rue Principale and around place Saint-Rémy, in the heart of the village. Private exhibitors offer a wide diversity of items at low prices: clothing for the whole family, shoes, toys, soft toys, board games, books (novels, comics, children's books), CDs, DVDs, vinyl records, decorative trinkets, antique crockery, glassware, tools, small furniture, household linen, sports articles and curiosities. Musical entertainment runs all day on place Saint-Rémy with Alsatian folklore, bloosmusik (brass band music), jazz and international variety, creating an incomparable festive atmosphere.

Bischoffsheim, a historic wine village

Bischoffsheim is a wine-growing town of around 3,200 inhabitants in the Vosges foothills, at the foot of Mont Sainte-Odile, between Obernai and Barr. The village is on the Alsace wine route and produces renowned wines. Bischoffsheim is known for its remarkable historical heritage: its Saint-Rémy church, its 16th to 18th century half-timbered houses, its old wash-house and its picturesque lanes. The Bischo'fescht and its flea market perpetuate the festive tradition of this village which has preserved its Alsatian authenticity.
