The 19th car boot sale of Fontevraud-l'Abbaye, €2 per linear meter, in the shade of the famous royal abbey
At its 19th edition, the car boot sale of Fontevraud-l'Abbaye (49590) confirms its place in the calendar of flea market events in the Saumurois region. Organized near the famous royal abbey of Fontevraud, it benefits from an exceptional historical setting that makes it a doubly attractive event.
The rate of €2 per linear meter for exhibitors is one of the advantages of this event, making participation accessible to many individuals who wish to clear out their attics without breaking the bank. This deliberately accessible pricing policy helps maintain a diverse and renewed offering from one edition to the next.
Exhibitors offer the usual range of car boot sale items, sometimes including pieces related to the region's religious and monastic heritage: prayer books, religious objects, conventual tableware, but also classics such as clothing, toys, books, records, light furniture, crockery, tools, and trinkets. The presence of tourists visiting the abbey brings an additional, cosmopolitan audience to this event.
Fontevraud-l'Abbaye owes its name to the Royal Abbey of Fontevraud, one of the largest medieval monastic cities in Europe, founded in 1101 by Robert d'Arbrissel. A necropolis for the Plantagenet kings, the abbey houses the effigies of Henry II of England, Eleanor of Aquitaine, Richard the Lionheart, and Isabella of Angoulême. Classified as a historic monument and inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list, it attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors each year.
