Ascension car boot sale organized by the Foyer Rural on Sornac's Church Square
The Vide-greniers de Sornac is a traditional event on Ascension Thursday in this village in Haute-Corrèze. Organized by the Foyer Rural, it brings together exhibitors and bargain hunters on the Place de l'Église, in an authentic village setting.
Private exhibitors set up their stalls around the church and in the village square, offering a variety of second-hand items: clothes, toys, books, crockery, trinkets, tools, and small furniture. The fee of 5 euros for the day makes the event accessible to all occasional sellers.
Sornac is a commune in Haute-Corrèze, located at about 750 meters altitude on the Millevaches plateau. This rural village, nestled between moors, forests, and peat bogs, is part of the Millevaches en Limousin Regional Natural Park. The commune is a crossroads in the Limousin mountains, halfway between Meymac and Bugeat, and is a good stopping point for hikers and nature lovers.
The Foyer Rural provides refreshments and food on the Church Square, in the friendly spirit of village associations in the Limousin mountains. The car boot sale is often an occasion for reunions among the plateau's inhabitants after the winter.
