Annual car boot sale in the streets of Montsalvy, medieval town of the Châtaigneraie Cantalienne
Every summer, rue Marcellin Boule, the main street of Montsalvy, transforms into a long open-air flea market. Private exhibitors offer a varied range of items: furniture, tableware, clothes, toys, books, trinkets, and decorative objects. This car boot sale attracts bargain hunters from southern Cantal, the Châtaigneraie, and northern Aveyron.
Classified among the most beautiful villages of the Châtaigneraie Cantalienne, Montsalvy (15120) is an ancient monastic town founded in the 11th century by Saint Gausbert. The commune retains remarkable medieval heritage: Romanesque abbey, ramparts, fortified gates, and half-timbered houses. Located at an altitude of 800 meters, between the gorges of the Truyère and the plateaus of the Aubrac, it offers a picturesque setting for bargain hunting.
L'Amicale del Castel, a very active local association, contributes to the animation of Montsalvy by organizing, among other things, a car boot sale in the salle polyvalente in the autumn. These events are part of a tradition of fairs and markets that regularly animate this small town in Cantal, contributing to the dynamism of local commerce and the conviviality of the village.
