Car boot sale on Place Saint Jean in Miramont-de-Comminges
Every year in May, the small village of Miramont-de-Comminges organizes its car boot sale on Place Saint Jean. This human-sized event is an opportunity for the inhabitants of the village and neighboring towns to meet, clear out their attics, and find treasures at low prices in a relaxed and warm atmosphere.
Place Saint Jean is located in the heart of the village, near the town hall and the stadium. This natural gathering place in Miramont-de-Comminges offers a pleasant space for setting up the car boot sale stalls. From 8 am to 6 pm, exhibitors offer a varied selection of everyday items: clothes, toys, books, dishes, trinkets, tools, small furniture, and much more.
Miramont-de-Comminges is a small village of about 300 inhabitants located on the heights overlooking the Garonne valley, in the canton of Saint-Gaudens. Its name — “Miramont,” from the Latin “mirare montem” (to look at the mountain) — testifies to the exceptional view it offers of the central Pyrenees. The old houses, the church, and the village alleys create an authentic setting that gives all its charm to this rural car boot sale.
This car boot sale perfectly embodies the spirit of rural Comminges: simplicity, authenticity, and friendliness. Far from large urban car boot sales, this village event offers a more intimate treasure hunting experience, where human contact and neighborly exchanges take precedence over the search for a good deal. It is also an opportunity to discover this little-known village and its preserved natural environment at the foot of the Pyrenees.
