Vélizy-Villacoublay has developed an original approach to its flea markets: rather than a single large event, the municipality organizes six annual flea markets spread across the city's different districts, from May to September. Each is reserved for residents of the concerned district, making them events focused on proximity and social connection rather than large commercial flea markets.

The Esplanade du Traité de Rome, central public space of the Europe District, offers a pleasant and spacious setting for this flea market. Located in the heart of this residential district, it becomes for a day a major meeting place between neighbors, where residents display clothes, children's toys, tableware, books, small furniture and various items.
