The Vide-Grenier de Vernègues hosted its 2025 edition in the spring, in the streets of this village with a unique destiny. Rebuilt below in the Jas district after the terrible earthquake of June 11, 1909 which destroyed the medieval town perched on the plateau, Vernègues offers a unique urban setting with its wide, regular streets, awarded in 1927 the bronze medal in the modern village competition.
The stalls, arranged along the streets of the town center, offered visitors a good variety of second-hand items: clothing, tableware and earthenware, toys, books, tools, furniture, and various trinkets. Entry was free and the atmosphere was family-friendly, true to the tradition of Provençal car boot sales.
Bargain hunters could extend their visit by climbing to the plateau of Old Vernègues, where the ruins of the Saint-Jacques church and the seigneurial castle offer a striking panorama of the Alpilles, the Luberon, and Sainte-Victoire. Nearby, the Roman temple of Diana at the Château Bas estate is a remarkable archaeological site. The car boot sale will be held again in 2026 with an edition scheduled for June 1st.
