The traditional village flea market of the Pouzounac hamlet
Every spring, the association Les Amis de Pouzounac organises its traditional flea market in the heart of the village centre, Place de Pouzounac, in the commune of Le Garric in northern Tarn. A local event, it brings together private sellers and visitors for a friendly day of bargain-hunting in a village of the Carmaux mining basin. A fine chance to discover this authentic corner of Tarn and support local community life.
The flea market organised by the Les Amis de Pouzounac association is an awaited spring rendezvous for Le Garric residents and nearby Carmausin towns. Created to sustain the memory and life of the Pouzounac hamlet, the association offers this annual event which combines village animation, popular bargain-hunting and funding for its heritage and festive activities.
Place de Pouzounac welcomes sellers from morning. Private sellers from Le Garric and neighbouring villages (Carmaux, Saint-Benoît-de-Carmaux, Blaye-les-Mines, Cagnac-les-Mines) offer bric-a-brac: clothes, toys, books, baby gear, crockery, small furniture, decorative objects, old tools and sometimes mementoes of the local mining past (lamps, equipment, documents). A true village atmosphere.
Le Garric is a commune of around 2,000 residents in northern Tarn, next to Carmaux, the historic coal town that has deeply marked the area's identity. The Pouzounac hamlet keeps its rural charm. The region allows combining the flea market with iconic sites: the Glass Art Museum in Carmaux, the Mining Museum in Cagnac-les-Mines, or the Grésigne forest further south.
Family spirit and human scale are the hallmarks of the Friends of Pouzounac flea market. Come unhurried, enjoy the pastoral village setting, chat with the locals unpacking. Proceeds contribute to the association's heritage actions and other village events.
