Annual car boot sale in August in the heart of the Corbières, in Cascastel-des-Corbières
Cascastel-des-Corbières is a wine-growing village in the Aude region located in the heart of the Corbières massif, in the Corbières-Boutenac AOC area. This terroir, renowned for its powerful red wines, is one of the oldest vineyards in France. The village, perched on the foothills of the limestone massif, benefits from a beautiful natural setting, with its fragrant scrubland and panoramas of the Mediterranean Sea on clear days.
It is in this context of an authentic and preserved terroir that the annual car boot sale is held every August, attracting residents from surrounding villages and summer tourists who travel through the Corbières.
The Cascastel car boot sale is typical of rural events in the Aude region: simple, friendly, and unpretentious. Private sellers, often residents of the village or neighboring towns such as Durban-Corbières, Tuchan, or Villeneuve-les-Corbières, offer their items on trestles set up in the alleys and on the village square.

August in the Corbières is synonymous with intense heat, cicadas, and upcoming harvests. The car boot sale takes advantage of this summer dynamism to attract a larger audience than usual. Holidaymakers staying in local gîtes and campsites find this type of event a cultural and friendly activity that breaks away from usual seaside activities.
The coolness of the morning is conducive to strolling among the stalls. The refreshment stand, run by volunteers from the local association, offers cold drinks and local specialties, allowing visitors to take a break before continuing their discovery of the stalls.
Cascastel-des-Corbières deserves a longer visit beyond just the car boot sale. The village's cooperative winery, heir to a long winemaking tradition, offers exceptional wines from old Corbières grape varieties. Walks in the surrounding scrubland reveal a rich Mediterranean flora and fauna. A few kilometers away, the ruins of the Durban castle offer a spectacular panorama of the vineyards and the sea.
Cascastel-des-Corbières is accessible from Narbonne (about 40 minutes southwest) via the D613 and the Corbières roads, or from Perpignan (about 50 minutes north). Narrow and winding roads in the massif.
Generally from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, depending on local organization.
