Bois-de-Céné is a rural community of about 1,700 in northern Vendée, bordering Loire-Atlantique. Part of the Pays de Retz on the Vendée side, it has an interesting geographic position between Challans, Nantes and the coast. The annual flea market is one of the village's spring events.

2025 edition was Sunday 18 May 2025. 2026 edition expected in May per annual rhythm (exact date TBC). Typical northern-Vendée atmosphere: friendly, family, with local exhibitors and good area attendance.

Vendée-Breton marsh community

Bois-de-Céné sits between bocage and marsh. Near the Vendée-Breton marsh, a vast wetland from Pays de Retz to Pays de Monts, with canals, duck farms and preserved landscapes. The Notre-Dame de l'Île-Chauvet abbey, a ruined Cistercian site, is a nearby heritage gem.

15 min from Challans (duck capital), 20 min from Machecoul-Saint-Même, 40 min from Nantes, 30 min from Pays de Monts beaches (La Barre-de-Monts, Fromentine). A nice base for northern Vendée and southern Loire-Atlantique.
