One of the largest garage sales in Seine-et-Marne, 800 vendors in the Dammarie-lès-Lys town center
The Dammarie-lès-Lys Garage Sale is one of the biggest bargain-hunting events in Seine-et-Marne. Organized by the municipality several times a year, including a spring edition in April, it gathers up to 800 vendors in the town center. Private sellers, amateur dealers, and visitors from across the department and the Paris region meet for an intense day of hunting in this town bordering Melun.
A town of over 22,000 inhabitants located on the southwestern outskirts of Melun, Dammarie-lès-Lys has become one of the leading flea market destinations in Seine-et-Marne over the years. Organized by the municipality four times a year (February, April, September, and November depending on the year), the Dammarie-lès-Lys garage sale reaches exceptional scale with up to 800 vendors set up in the town center and around Place du sergent Robert Mazet, rue Charles de Gaulle.
Organized directly by the Ville de Dammarie-lès-Lys, this popular flea market has become a must for bargain hunters in southern Île-de-France. Its quarterly format brings varied atmospheres throughout the seasons: springtime edition with a fresh feel, large autumn fair at back-to-school time, winter sale before the holidays... Each has its regulars, its hunting strategies, and its own atmosphere. The April edition enjoys longer days and often mild weather, which boosts attendance.
With 800 vendors, one can easily imagine the diversity of what's on offer. Clothes for all ages, toys, books and comics, vinyl records, dishware, small appliances, trinkets, furniture, décor, tools, baby gear, musical instruments, sports items, collectibles... nothing escapes the flea market aisles. Seasoned bargain hunters arrive at opening, 8 a.m., to find the most coveted pieces, while families prefer the afternoon with its more relaxed atmosphere.
Dammarie-lès-Lys is notably famous for the remains of the Abbaye du Lys, founded in the 13th century by Blanche of Castile, mother of Saint Louis. This former royal Cistercian abbey, now in ruins but classified as a Historic Monument, testifies to the medieval wealth of the region. The town is also bordered by the Seine and its lush landscapes. After a morning of bargain hunting, visitors can enjoy a stroll along the river or head to Fontainebleau and its forest, only about fifteen kilometers away.
Dammarie-lès-Lys is very well served: the A5 and A6 motorways link the town to Paris in under an hour, and Melun's SNCF station (Transilien line R) allows Paris-area visitors to attend without a car. This accessibility partly explains the scale and success of the sale, which attracts several thousand visitors each edition.
The Dammarie-lès-Lys Garage Sale is held several times a year in the town center, parking place du sergent Robert Mazet, 26 rue Charles de Gaulle. Spring edition in April. Up to 800 vendors. Free admission from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Spring edition of the large Dammarie-lès-Lys garage sale on April 19, 2026. Up to 800 vendors, 8 a.m.-6 p.m., free admission.
