Annual flea market on avenue de Paris in Ferrières-en-Brie, with funfair and food stalls
The Ferrières-en-Brie Flea Market is a spring event organized by the town hall on avenue de Paris, in this charming town famous for its Rothschild castle and majestic plane tree avenues. Between 100 and 200 private vendors set up their stalls from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., while a funfair and food stalls on rue du 19 mars add atmosphere to the day. Vendor fee: 10 € for two meters, free admission for visitors.
Known worldwide for its sumptuous Rothschild castle, built in the 19th century by Baron James de Rothschild and designed by Joseph Paxton, architect of London's Crystal Palace, Ferrières-en-Brie is an exceptional Seine-et-Marne village. Located on the eastern edge of the Paris metropolitan area, near Lagny-sur-Marne and Marne-la-Vallée, it retains its Brie character while boasting remarkable architectural and landscape heritage. It is in this remarkable setting that the annual Flea Market is held, organized by the Mairie de Ferrières-en-Brie.
Organized by the municipality, this event follows the tradition of community gatherings that shape local life. The invitation is simple: "empty your closets and give a new life to your objects." Residents and vendors from neighboring towns set up on avenue de Paris to sell clothes, toys, books, dishware, small furniture, trinkets, and various items. The registration fee of 10 € for two meters is one of the most accessible in the region and encourages strong popular participation. Vendors set up from 6 a.m. for a public opening from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
With 100 to 200 vendors per edition, the Ferrières-en-Brie Flea Market offers great diversity without becoming overwhelming. Bargain hunters can calmly browse the aisles, negotiate, chat with sellers. The proximity to Paris and Marne-la-Vallée attracts a large Paris-area audience who appreciate the unique village-castle atmosphere.
Beyond bargain hunting, the day includes festive activities: a funfair and food stalls set up on rue du 19 mars, letting families enjoy the event beyond just the flea market stalls. Children's rides, cotton candy, crêpes, grills, cold drinks... plenty to turn the day into a true family outing under the sign of relaxation and good cheer.
It's hard to come to Ferrières-en-Brie without being tempted to visit the castle. This exceptional monument, considered one of the most beautiful 19th-century residences in France, now houses a gastronomy school and regularly offers guided tours of its sumptuous interiors and English-style park designed by Paxton. A perfect cultural pause to combine with the Flea Market for a complete day in the Rothschild Brie.
