The spring meeting for bargain hunters on boulevard Voltaire
Every spring, the boulevard Voltaire in Léon hosts its traditional flea market and car boot sale. On the sidewalks of this main street of the Landes village, professional dealers set up on the even-numbered side while individuals display their stalls on the odd-numbered side. An original organization that allows visitors to browse between antiques and second-hand items in a friendly atmosphere, in the heart of this village bordered by the pond and the pine forest.
The village of Léon, nestled between the eponymous pond and the Atlantic Ocean, hosts a flea market and car boot sale every spring on boulevard Voltaire. This event, organized by the association Voltaire & Léon, marks the beginning of the flea market season in this area of the Landes coast. For two days, the village's main boulevard transforms into a vast open-air market that attracts bargain hunters and strollers from all over the region.
The originality of this event lies in its unique spatial organization. The even-numbered side of the boulevard is reserved for professional dealers offering carefully selected antiques, old furniture, trinkets, and collector's items. The odd-numbered side, on the other hand, hosts individuals in a classic car boot sale format, often with very attractive prices. This clever separation allows visitors to easily target their searches according to their desires and budget, while ensuring a remarkable diversity of offerings.
Located on the edge of one of the most beautiful ponds in the Landes, Léon offers an ideal setting for a day of bargain hunting. The village, which has about 2,000 inhabitants, is a jewel of the Landes coast. After browsing the stalls on boulevard Voltaire, visitors can extend their walk along the Courant d'Huchet, a classified natural reserve that connects the pond to the ocean through a forest gallery unique in Europe. The village restaurants offer typical Landes cuisine — magret, foie gras, pastis landais — to complete this weekend outing.
To make the most of the Léon spring flea market, it is advisable to arrive early on Saturday morning to find the best deals before the crowds. Parking is available in the streets adjacent to boulevard Voltaire and in the parking lot of the village hall. Remember to bring cash, sturdy bags for your finds, and, if you plan to buy bulky items, a suitable vehicle. Dogs on a leash are generally accepted at the event.
The spring flea market and car boot sale in Léon returns at the end of March 2026 on boulevard Voltaire. Professional dealers on the even side, individuals on the odd side. Free admission.
