Each October, the Loire quays at Montjean-sur-Loire (delegated commune of Mauges-sur-Loire, 49620) host a car boot sale in an exceptional setting. On the banks of the royal river, private exhibitors set up their stalls facing the tranquil waters of the Loire, creating an open-air market of incomparable charm.

The quays of Montjean, witnesses to the past activity of Loire river trade, come back to life for a day of treasure hunting. Visitors will find a fine selection of items: antique furniture and objects recalling the river's maritime history, clothing and textiles, old books and documents, crockery and ceramics, traditional tools, trinkets, and various curiosities.

The autumn timing of this event gives the day a special atmosphere: the colors of October on the banks of the Loire, the reflection of poplar trees in the water, the golden light of the Anjou autumn... all elements that make this day a memorable experience for lovers of flea markets and nature.

Montjean-sur-Loire and Mauges-sur-Loire

Montjean-sur-Loire is one of the delegated communes of Mauges-sur-Loire (49620), a new municipality in Maine-et-Loire created in 2016. Perched on a hillside overlooking the Loire, the town of Montjean offers an exceptional panorama of the river and the Loire islands. Its river port, once very active for the coal and slate trade of the Mauges region, still retains its stone quays and slipways.

The territory of Mauges-sur-Loire extends along the south bank of the Loire, between Ingrandes and Saint-Florent-le-Vieil. This new municipality is part of Mauges Communauté and values its exceptional Loire heritage, inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage site within the Loire Valley.
