Flea market and car boot sale organized twice every summer in Vogüé, Plus Beau Village de France, Allée and Place du Château
The Vogüé Flea Market and Car Boot Sale is an unmissable summer event in the heart of one of the Most Beautiful Villages in France. Organized twice every summer—in July and on the 1st Sunday of August—by the Vogüé Twinning Committee, it takes place on the Allée and Place du Château, an exceptional medieval setting by the Ardèche river. Individuals and bargain hunters meet in this characterful village for a day of good deals. Free entry.
Twice every summer, the medieval village of Vogüé transforms into a lively flea market and car boot sale, combining the pleasure of treasure hunting with the exceptional setting of one of the Most Beautiful Villages in France. These two summer editions—in July and on the first Sunday of August—are organized by the Vogüé Twinning Committee, a local association involved in the village's cultural and festive life.
The event is held on the Allée and Place du Château, an emblematic area of Vogüé that runs along the majestic limestone cliffs overlooking the Ardèche river. This prime location offers exhibitors and visitors a unique backdrop: the 12th-century seigneurial castle, rebuilt in the 17th century, the stepped paved alleys, the white stone houses, and the panoramas of the Ardèche river create an incomparable setting for this popular event.
Perched between cliff and river, Vogüé is classified among the Most Beautiful Villages in France and is a "Village de Caractère" (Village of Character). Built in an amphitheater on the limestone cliff on the banks of the Ardèche, the village is located about ten kilometers north of Aubenas. Its population, usually around 800 inhabitants, swells to over 2,500 residents in the peak summer season, testifying to the site's exceptional tourist appeal.
The Château de Vogüé, a private historical monument managed by the association Vivante Ardèche since 1977, overlooks the village with its four towers and offers the public a tour retracing the history of the seigneurial house of Vogüé. Summer exhibitions at the castle, Thursday farmers' markets, and summer flea markets contribute to making Vogüé a particularly lively village from June to September.
It is the Vogüé Twinning Committee that initiates and organizes these two summer flea market events. This association, whose primary mission is to forge bonds of friendship between Vogüé and partner towns abroad, is actively involved in local life through the organization of popular and convivial events.
The flea market is open to both professionals (flea market dealers, antique dealers, professional bargain hunters) and individuals who wish to clear out their cellars and attics. The diversity of stalls guarantees a varied offering: antique furniture, tableware, trinkets, clothing, books, vinyl records, toys, tools, decorative items, and collector's pieces are displayed side-by-side on the stalls along the Château's alley.
The July flea market benefits from already established tourist traffic: holidaymakers in Southern Ardèche—staying in campsites, gîtes, or seasonal accommodations—constitute an audience of curious and available visitors, happy to spend a morning treasure hunting in such a picturesque setting. The August edition, scheduled for the first Sunday of the month, coincides with the peak of the village's summer visitor numbers and benefits from maximum attendance.
The flea market day naturally extends into a stroll through the medieval streets of Vogüé, a visit to the castle, or a swim in the nearby Ardèche river. The village's restaurants, cafes, and shops also benefit from the buzz generated by these summer events. For exhibitors, the Place du Château offers an unparalleled selling environment, far from commercial areas and usual parking lots.
Entry is free for visitors. Exhibitors wishing to offer their items can contact the Vogüé Twinning Committee to reserve a spot on the Allée and Place du Château. During the summer, parking can be limited in the village center: it is advisable to park at the village entrance or in designated parking areas and walk to the flea market, which also allows you to discover the alleys of this exceptional village. Vogüé is accessible from Aubenas (10 km south) via the D579.
La Brocante Vide-Grenier de Vogüé se tiendra le 1er dimanche d'août 2026, allée et place du Château (07200). Organisée par le Comité de jumelage de Vogüé, professionnels et particuliers bienvenus. Entrée gratuite.
From Aubenas, take the D579 north (approx. 10 km). Vogüé is signposted from the D579. Parking at the village entrance or in designated parking areas during the season. The Place du Château is accessible on foot from the parking lots.
During high season, parking in the village center is limited. Parking areas at the village entrance allow you to reach the flea market on foot in a few minutes.
