Vergongheon Horse Festival and Car Boot Sale — September 2025

On the last Sunday of September 2025, Vergongheon vibrated to the rhythm of its traditional Horse Festival, organized by the Comité Saint-Rémy. From 6 am, the first exhibitors took their places in the village streets, setting up their stalls to welcome bargain hunters and visitors until the evening. The hundred or so exhibitors present offered a wide variety of items: antique furniture, crockery, clothing, tools, books, and trinkets of all kinds.

Around the car boot sale, the Horse Festival lived up to its promises: the horse rides delighted children and adults, allowing them to discover the village surroundings on horseback in the agricultural setting of the Limagne d'Allier. In the afternoon, the country show ignited the crowd with line dancing and Western music. Auvergne gastronomy was in the spotlight, with morning tripe for the early risers and noon truffade, that emblematic dish made from potatoes and fresh tomme cheese, which delighted all the tables under the gentle September sun.
