Annual car boot sale in Cuges-les-Pins, a Provençal village at the foot of Sainte-Baume near Aubagne and Cassis
The Cuges-les-Pins Car Boot Sale is an annual event that enlivens this Provençal village nestled at the foot of the Sainte-Baume massif in the Bouches-du-Rhône department. Organized on Place Stanislas Fabre, in front of the town hall, this friendly gathering brings together individuals and families for a day of outdoor treasure hunting. Cuges-les-Pins, a commune of over 6,000 inhabitants located between Aubagne and Cassis, is known for housing the famous OK Corral amusement park and for its hiking trails in the Sainte-Baume massif. Entry is free for visitors.
Each year, the village of Cuges-les-Pins hosts its car boot sale on Place Stanislas Fabre, in the heart of the village, in front of the town hall. This popular event brings together residents of the commune and surrounding villages—Gémenos, Auriol, La Destrousse, Roquevaire, Ceyreste—around the pleasure of finding treasures and Provençal conviviality. The exhibitors, exclusively individuals, offer their second-hand items to bargain hunters who come to enjoy a beautiful day outdoors in a remarkable natural setting.
Located about thirty kilometers east of Marseille, between Aubagne and Cassis, the commune of Cuges-les-Pins covers nearly 39 km² in the heart of the Regional Natural Park of Sainte-Baume. The village is situated in a vast polje—a karst depression considered one of the largest in France—surrounded by hills covered with Aleppo pines and garrigue. This exceptional geographical setting gives Cuges-les-Pins a rural yet preserved character, while being easily accessible from the major coastal cities.
Cuges-les-Pins is world-renowned for being home to OK Corral, the largest theme park in the south of France. Founded over fifty years ago, this Western-themed park offers more than 30 attractions for the whole family, stunt shows, and a landscape setting under the pines of Sainte-Baume. The Sainte-Baume massif, which overlooks the village, is one of the spiritual and hiking high points in Provence. Tradition attributes a stay in the summit cave to Mary Magdalene, which has become a millennial pilgrimage site. The GR98 trails cross the communal territory and offer spectacular panoramas of the Mediterranean, the Calanques of Cassis, and Montagne Sainte-Victoire.
The Cuges-les-Pins car boot sale offers a wide variety of items typical of Provençal events:
Prices, set by individuals, remain very accessible, and bargaining is part of the fun of treasure hunting.
Beyond the fame of OK Corral, Cuges-les-Pins has a little-known religious and historical heritage. The commune houses a chapel dedicated to Saint Anthony of Padua, linked to a legend that the saint stopped in Cuges in the 13th century. A fragment of Saint Anthony's relic, donated in 1350 by Cardinal Guy de Montfort, papal legate in Avignon, is kept in the commune. From the chapel, a remarkable panorama opens onto the Cuges plain and the surrounding hills.
After the car boot sale, visitors can extend their day by hiking the trails of the Sainte-Baume massif, visiting the OK Corral park with family, or going to Cassis to discover the Calanques of Port-Miou, Port-Pin, and En-Vau. The city of Aubagne, the birthplace of Marcel Pagnol, is only a 15-minute drive away. Cuges-les-Pins is thus an ideal starting point for a day combining treasure hunting, nature, and Provençal heritage.
The Cuges-les-Pins Car Boot Sale returns on June 1, 2026, on Place Stanislas Fabre. Annual car boot sale in this Provençal village at the foot of Sainte-Baume, between Aubagne and Cassis. Free entry.
