The solidarity flea market of Lacourt-Saint-Pierre's parent association
The PTA Les enfants d'abord (Children First) organises its big annual flea market at the multi-purpose hall of Lacourt-Saint-Pierre, a charming commune at the southern gates of Montauban. A Sunday dedicated to solidarity bargain hunting, with proceeds funding school outings and teaching materials. Bric-à-brac, toys, clothing and good humour guaranteed.
Lacourt-Saint-Pierre is a commune in the first ring south of Montauban, halfway between the prefecture and the confluence of the Tarn and Garonne. The PTA (Parent-Teacher Association) Les enfants d'abord is one of the cornerstones of local school and community life. Throughout the year, it organises actions to fund teaching outings, school trips and equipment: kermesses, sweet and savoury sales after school, participation in the telethon and outdoor cinema.
The annual flea market is the highlight of the association. Held at the multi-purpose hall of the commune, it welcomes private vendors who come to empty their attic for a worthwhile cause: allowing the children of the school to go on field trips, to the cinema, the museum, or to benefit from quality school supplies.
The PTA places particular emphasis on toys, childcare items and children's clothing — one of the major attractions of this flea market organised by parents for parents. You also find the full classic range of a spring flea market: crockery, books, vinyl records, comics, small furniture, decorative items, tools, family knick-knacks.
The spirit of the event is that of a friendly family day. Volunteer parents, teachers and children gather on site to liven up the event. A refreshment stand and a homemade pastry stall help support the PTA's action while having a snack. It is also an opportunity for village residents to meet and support the school.
The flea market opens early and runs for a large part of the day. For parents looking for toys and clothing at low prices for their children, the morning is the best time. The multi-purpose hall offers a practical covered setting, and parking is free in the village. A great solidarity action to support in the heart of Tarn-et-Garonne.
