The northern Luberon gathering at the Place du Marché
Every Ascension Thursday, Coustellet, a hamlet of Maubec famous for its farmers' market, hosts its great annual vide-grenier. Organised by the Association de Coustellet and a tradition for over a decade, it gathers around 150 private sellers on the Place du Marché and its surroundings. Bric-à-brac, clothes, books, tableware, toys and small family treasures delight Luberon bargain hunters.
Tucked between Cabrières-d'Avignon, Oppède and Maubec, Coustellet is one of those rare Provençal hamlets both rural and urban. Its Place du Marché, designed for the Sunday farmers' market, has become an iconic spot in Luberon agriculture.
For around fifteen years, the Association de Coustellet has made this bank holiday Thursday the great spring hunting rendezvous in northern Luberon. Some 150 exhibitors set up on the square and surrounding streets.
Private sellers offer children's and adult clothing, toys, books, tableware, small appliances, trinkets, costume jewellery, records, comics, posters, sports gear and small furniture.
