Every September, the Grande Braderie de Montélimar transforms the city center into a vast open-air market. The pedestrian streets, squares, and shopping avenues are covered with stalls run by both local merchants selling off their collections and individuals participating in the traditional car boot sale that accompanies the event.

A commercial and festive tradition

End-of-summer street sales are a tradition in French towns. Inspired by the famous Braderie de Lille, they mark the commercial return after the summer holidays. In Montélimar, the Grande Braderie sets the tone for the autumn season and brings together thousands of visitors each year from the surrounding towns of the southern Drôme and neighboring Ardèche.

Montélimar city center: an exceptional setting

The heart of Montélimar is particularly well-suited for this type of event. The Allées Provençales, Boulevard Marre-Desmarets, and the medieval alleys converging on the Place du Marché offer a lively and varied setting.
