The great summer flea market of a millennium-old town, every summer in the historic town centre
Gonesse is one of the oldest towns in Val-d'Oise, with more than a thousand years of documented history. Its Saint-Pierre-Saint-Paul Cathedral, a masterpiece of Gothic art, dominates the town centre and recalls that this town of 26,000 inhabitants was once an important place in the kingdom of France. It is against this exceptional historic backdrop that the Town of Gonesse organises its annual flea market through its Events Department each summer.
The event takes place in the town centre, on Rue de Paris and Place du 8 Mai 1945, transformed for the occasion into a large pedestrianised flea market. With around 300 sellers spread along these historic thoroughfares, the Gonesse flea market is one of the most eagerly awaited popular events of the year in the commune.
The Gonesse flea market, affectionately nicknamed La Broc' de Gonesse by its organisers, is much more than a simple second-hand market. A terrace surrounded by food trucks is set up for the occasion. A funfair is installed on Place Jean Jaurès the same day, turning this summer Sunday into a true village festival.
