Outdoor flea market in the historic town of Saint-Gobain, in the heart of the Aisne forest
Saint-Gobain, a commune in the Aisne region famous worldwide for its Royal Glass Manufactory founded in 1665 by Colbert, hosts a flea market in its streets every year. This historic village, perched at an altitude of over 180 meters in the heart of the Saint-Gobain forest, offers an exceptional setting for a day of outdoor bargain hunting.
The Saint-Gobain forest, which covers nearly 9,000 hectares, is one of the most beautiful forest masses in the Aisne. Visitors to the flea market can combine their bargain hunting day with a walk in this forest of beech and oak trees, discovering the remains of the old silica sand quarries that supplied the manufactory.
The village of Saint-Gobain preserves the traces of its glorious industrial past: the buildings of the former manufactory, the workers' housing, and the gardens bear witness to three and a half centuries of glassmaking history. The flea market allows you to discover this heritage while browsing the stalls set up in the village streets.
