The Ansennes Festival: a living tradition of the Vimeu

In Picardy there are fetes that, without making the headlines of tourist magazines, make a whole region's heart beat. The Ansennes Festival, held each early August at the hamlet of Bouttencourt, is one of them. For generations, the Ansennes-Monthières Alumni Association has perpetuated this complete fete, combining morning brocante, entertainment, local gastronomy, fireworks and balls.

Sunday: brocante, pigeon release, fireworks

The day begins very early with the brocante from 7am to 5pm in the streets of the hamlet. The rate is generous: first 3 linear meters free, then €1 per additional meter. At 5:30pm, the traditional pigeon release takes place, then catering, DJ Marco concert at 7pm, and the fireworks at 11pm conclude the first day.

Monday: Ansennes tripe and free ball

Monday is the great culinary tradition day: at 1pm, the famous Ansennes-style tripe tasting, a specialty simmered according to a local recipe passed down through generations. The afternoon continues with free merry-go-round tickets for children at 5pm, then free meal at 7pm and ball animated by DJ Marco.

Bouttencourt and Ansennes hamlet

Bouttencourt is a commune of the Somme located at the extreme west of the department, in the Vimeu, a few kilometers from the Bresle valley which marks the border with Seine-Maritime.
