Grand flea market on August 15th during the famous Melon and Duck Fair of Pouzay, a tradition of over 400 years
The Pouzay flea market is part of the Melon and Duck Fair, a tradition over four centuries old. Every August 15th, the village comes alive with a flea market, agricultural fair, fairground rides, fireworks, and a popular ball.
The Melon and Duck Fair of Pouzay is one of the oldest fairs in Touraine, perpetuated for over four centuries. Every August 15th, the village transforms into a vast open-air market where flea market vendors, exhibitors, local producers, and fairground operators gather. The flea market plays an important role in this festive day, with numerous stalls offering antique furniture, tableware, trinkets, tools, books, clothing, toys, curiosities, and collectibles of all kinds.
Pouzay is a commune of about 750 inhabitants located in the south of Indre-et-Loire, between Sainte-Maure-de-Touraine and Richelieu. This agricultural and wine-growing village, crossed by the Mable river, retains an authentic rural heritage with its Saint-Pierre church and its tuffeau farms. The commune is at the heart of a region renowned for its melons, the cultivation of which gave its name to the historic fair.
The August 15th fair offers a flea market all day long, fairground rides, musical entertainment, an exhibition of farm animals, on-site catering, followed by fireworks at 10:45 PM at the stadium, and a ball. Admission is free.
The Melon and Duck Fair returns on August 15, 2026, with its grand flea market and traditional entertainment.
