Annual flea market at the Étang de Sézeaux in Lurcy-Lévis
Every first Saturday of May, the Étang de Sézeaux in Lurcy-Lévis hosts the flea market organized by the festival committee. This exceptional natural setting—a vast body of water surrounded by meadows and woods—offers a rare bucolic backdrop for a flea market. Stalls are set up along the edge of the pond, between the reflections of the water and the spring foliage.
The Étang de Sézeaux is one of the natural jewels of the Bourbonnais bocage. This body of water, frequented by fishermen and walkers, transforms for one day into a country flea market. The singing of birds accompanies the negotiations, and the spring breeze caresses the stalls. An idyllic setting that is a pleasant change from the usual car parks and market squares.
Lurcy-Lévis, a town in northwestern Allier, is located in the heart of the Bourbonnais bocage, a landscape of hedgerows, meadows, and ponds. This small commune retains interesting architectural heritage, with its castle and church. The flea market is part of the community life of this rural area where local events mark the seasons.
The price of 2 euros per meter, or 8 euros for 5 meters, remains very affordable and attracts a large number of exhibitors. The flat rate of 5 meters is particularly appreciated by individuals who want to clear out their attics without being burdened by stall fees. The day, from 7 am to 6 pm, offers ample time for browsing and strolling.
