The spring brocante on Place Gambetta in Yerres, organised by HMO Brocantes
Every early May, Place Gambetta in Yerres hosts the first great brocante of the year in the commune, organised by HMO Brocantes. This private-seller flea market, 6am to 6pm, attracts bargain hunters from Essonne and Val-de-Marne to this town of 30,000 watered by the Yerres river and close to the Sénart forest. Pitch fee €10/m, free entry.
Yerres is an Essonne (91) commune of around 30,000 inhabitants in the Sénart area. The Yerres river, a Seine tributary after which the town is named, runs through it for several kilometres, providing a natural setting of meadows and wetlands.
Yerres is best known in the art world for being home to the family estate of Impressionist painter Gustave Caillebotte (1848–1894). Acquired by his father in 1860, this property is now the open-to-the-public Domaine de Yerres. Caillebotte painted many works there between 1871 and 1879 — including 'Périssoires sur l'Yerres' (1877) and 'Baigneurs, bords de l'Yerres' (1878) — now held in major museums worldwide.
Place Gambetta is one of Yerres' central public spaces, ideal for open-air events. Each early May, HMO Brocantes sets up the first major flea market of the year here. Private sellers only, from 6am (unloading 6am–8am). Pitch fee: €10/m. Free entry for visitors.
