Major annual 8 May flea market in Fromont, over 300 exhibitors in the heart of the village
The annual Fromont flea market is one of Seine-et-Marne's great popular events. Rated five stars by enthusiasts, it is held every 8 May, a public holiday, in this small village in southern Seine-et-Marne. More than 300 exhibitors are expected, offering an incredible diversity of second-hand items, flea market goods, and curiosities. A must-try local specialty: the homemade black pudding, prepared on site and sold with local craft beer.
Every 8 May, the small village of Fromont (77760) experiences an exceptional day with its grand annual flea market. A popular event rated five stars by regulars, it draws a crowd each year from all over Seine-et-Marne, Essonne, and neighboring departments. With over 300 private and professional exhibitors spread between Chemin de la Mare, Place de l'Église, and adjacent streets, the event turns the village into a huge open-air market.
Fromont is usually a peaceful community of about 400 inhabitants, lost in the heart of the French Gâtinais. But every 8 May, its center wakes up at dawn to welcome exhibitors and bargain hunters. This ephemeral metamorphosis is the result of the tireless work of a team of local volunteers who prepare the event year-round.
The richness of the Fromont flea market comes from the great diversity of its exhibitors. Private sellers from the village and surroundings, semi-professional brocanteurs, seasoned antique dealers: everyone finds their place. Visitors can find everything: antique and rustic furniture, workshop tools, old books, vinyl records, family dishware, antique linens, vintage toys, militaria, fishing or hunting equipment, rustic decorative objects, wrought iron, and of course all the more modest items of a classic car boot sale.
What also makes the reputation of the Fromont flea market is its black pudding prepared on site, a culinary specialty awaited each year by regulars. Paired with the local craft beer, it is the traditional meal of the Fromont bargain hunter. Other simple and convivial dishes are also offered by the organizing team.
Coming to Fromont on 8 May is also a chance to discover the French Gâtinais, a natural region often overlooked at the gateway to Île-de-France. The route allows you to spend the whole day in the village: arrival at opening at 6 AM for early birds, browsing the stalls in the morning, a gourmet break with black pudding and beer at noon, then a few more purchases before the end of the day.
The flea market is held on Friday 8 May 2026 (public holiday) from 6 AM to 7 PM in the center of Fromont village. Free entry for visitors. Access via Chemin de la Mare and Place de l'Église. Refreshments, food, restrooms, free parking, and children's play areas on site.
