Jumeauville Flea Market

A flea market that takes over an entire village

There are neighbourhood flea markets, park fairs, and there are those that literally take possession of an entire village. Jumeauville's belongs to this last category: each late May, the village streets close to traffic and transform into a vast exhibition space where some hundred stalls unfold alongside the old facades. With around 80 confirmed exhibitors, it's one of the major spring events in western Yvelines between Mantes-la-Jolie and Houdan.

An authentic rural flea market atmosphere

The appeal of a village flea market like Jumeauville's lies in its setting: far from sometimes anonymous urban events, it offers the experience of browsing in real village streets, with old stones, small heritage, residents setting up in front of their own houses. Exhibitors come mostly from the village and surrounding hamlets.

What you'll find

The typical rural flea market mix is found in Jumeauville: private sellers offering their domestic bric-à-brac (clothes, toys, crockery, books, small furniture), but also occasional and professional dealers bringing antique furniture, country tools, agricultural items, old crockery, frames, paintings, rustic trinkets and sometimes beautiful surprises.

Jumeauville, a typical Mantois village

Jumeauville is a small rural commune of about 450 residents, nestled in the Mantois plateau about fifteen kilometres southeast of Mantes-la-Jolie. Its setting is typical of this region's agricultural villages: old stone houses, rural church, quiet lanes and countryside all around.

A day apart

Jumeauville's flea market is experienced as a parenthesis in time. Residents take over the sidewalks, the community refreshment stand keeps people hydrated, on-site catering offers simple hearty meals, and children run between stalls.
