Brocante de Couvertpuis: Treasure hunting in a village with rich heritage

The village of Couvertpuis, nestled at 270 meters altitude in the south of the Meuse, hosts a flea market in its streets every year. This small village of 85 inhabitants, located in the canton of Montiers-sur-Saulx, offers a rural and authentic setting for bargain hunters and lovers of rural heritage.

Remarkable heritage

Couvertpuis has an 11th-century church built on the hillside, of which the nave walls and a decorated portal tympanum from the Romanesque period remain. This architectural vestige testifies to the ancient settlement of this perched site. The village is also known for its old stone quarries, exploited until 1888. Couvertpuis stone, known for its hardness and ease of working, was used to make flagstones, troughs, and drinking troughs that equipped farms throughout the region.

A friendly country flea market

Exhibitors set up their stalls in the village streets, offering antique objects, trinkets, tableware, and various curiosities. Admission is free for visitors. The commune is part of the community of communes Portes de Meuse, halfway between Bar-le-Duc and Gondrecourt-le-Château. Refreshments and food are available to enhance the day in a warm and village atmosphere.
