Every Saturday morning from April to November in the medieval city of Gard
From April to November, every Saturday morning, the Brocante Aigues-Mortaise transforms the surroundings of the medieval city into a lively flea market and car boot sale. With up to 80 exhibitors, it is one of the most popular weekly events on the Gard coast, favored by both local residents and the many tourists who visit the ramparts of Aigues-Mortes throughout the beautiful season.
The stalls offer a wide variety of second-hand objects and items: antique and reclaimed furniture, family tableware, books, vinyl records, jewelry, tools, clothing, toys, and trinkets of all kinds. Exhibitors set up as early as 6 a.m. to prepare their stands, and the market is open to the public from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The atmosphere is that of southern flea markets: relaxed, warm, with the smell of coffee mixed with Mediterranean scents.
Aigues-Mortes is one of the best-preserved medieval cities in France. Its 13th-century ramparts, commissioned by Saint Louis before the Crusades, encircle an authentic historic center where stone houses, shaded alleys, and lively squares coexist harmoniously. The presence of the flea market every Saturday enriches the visitor experience of the city, allowing tourists to combine historical heritage with strolling among the stalls.
Exhibitor pitches can only be booked on Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., at the festivities office. The maximum of 80 exhibitors per market is respected to ensure a satisfactory quality of presentation and circulation. For visitors, entry is completely free. The flea market is organized by the local association LAJ.
