Autumn street sale and flea market in the town center of La Fère, city of artillery
Every autumn, the town of La Fère organizes its street sale in the streets of the town center. The event extends from Rue du Bourget, from the Marie de Luxembourg College roundabout, to Place Paul Doumer and Rue de la République. The flea market is set up in the Place de l'Europe, museum side.
Located at the confluence of the Oise and the Serre, La Fère is an old fortress that played a major role in French military history. The town is known as the birthplace of the French artillery, having hosted one of the country's first artillery schools. Its Musée Jeanne d'Aboville and its ramparts bear witness to this rich past. This prestigious history gives the street sale an interesting heritage setting for treasure hunters and strollers.
The Autumn Street Sale of La Fère combines two complementary aspects. On one hand, the commercial street sale in the main streets allows businesses to offer items at reduced prices. On the other hand, the free flea market in the Place de l'Europe welcomes individuals who wish to clear out their attics free of charge and without reservation.
