About Life Museum Grand Flea Market

The Annual Grand Flea Market of the Museum of Life In Days Gone By is the flagship spring event in Les Ormes-sur-Voulzie, Seine-et-Marne. Spread over two weekend days, it takes over the museum's forecourt on Chemin de Frilure and offers a rich program: stalls, appraisals by experts from the France 2 show Affaire conclue, ceramics exhibition by Marie-Laure Griffe, food trucks, barrel organ, old-fashioned games for children. A must-see cultural and family event in the Montois region.

The Museum's Iconic Flea Market

Every year in June, the Museum of Life In Days Gone By in Les Ormes-sur-Voulzie organizes its annual Grand Flea Market, now one of the most anticipated events of the Brie calendar. Spread over two days—Saturday and Sunday—the event takes place on the museum's forecourt, Chemin de Frilure, and extends to the immediate surroundings to accommodate a large number of exhibitors and visitors. The 2026 edition is scheduled for Saturday June 20 and Sunday June 21, 2026, from 9 am to 6 pm.

A Unique Museum Dedicated to Rural Memory

The Museum of Life In Days Gone By is an unusual and fascinating place, born from the will of a few patient collectors who, over several decades, have gathered thousands of objects, tools, machines, and testimonies of everyday rural life from the 19th and 20th centuries. Old school, reconstructed shops, artisan workshops, farm machinery, life scenes: everything is staged to immerse the visitor in rural France of yesteryear. This unique context gives the flea market an added heritage dimension.

A Rich and Family-Friendly Program

The museum's Grand Flea Market is not limited to stalls. It offers a full program that makes it a complete weekend event: food trucks for catering, a barrel organ lulling the aisles with old-fashioned melodies, old-fashioned games (tops, stilts, hopscotch, wooden games) for children, and a special artistic exhibition of ceramics by Marie-Laure Griffe, Franco-Swiss artist, presented in monumental staging.

Affaire conclue Experts to Appraise Your Finds

A particularly anticipated highlight: the chance for visitors to have their own items appraised by experts from the France 2 show Affaire conclue. Caroline Margeridon and other famous buyers from the show are regularly present to examine pieces brought by the public (appraisal is included with museum entry at the standard rate). It's a unique chance to meet these professionals and learn more about one's collectibles.

Chez Grand'Mère and Food Trucks

For catering, the museum's Chez Grand'Mère restaurant operates throughout the weekend and offers family cuisine true to the spirit of the place (reservations recommended at 01 60 52 63 32). Several food trucks complete the offering and let everyone eat as they wish between visits to the flea market aisles.
