Forty years of flea market tradition on Whit Monday
Every Whit Monday, the Foyer Rural de Commeny transforms the village streets into a festive secondhand market. The 41st edition takes place on 25 May 2026, from 6am to 6pm. An event rooted in Vexin history, expertly organised for over four decades by a dedicated team of volunteers.
In the bocage of the Vexin français, the village of Commeny (95450) has become synonymous over the decades with a single event: its grand Whit Monday flea market. Organised by the Foyer Rural since 1986, this gathering reached its 41st edition in 2026, a longevity record that speaks to the unwavering commitment of a volunteer team and the whole community's attachment to this tradition.
On Whit Monday, Commeny is transformed. The village streets fill with vendors setting up from dawn, offering antique furniture, trinkets, crockery, clothing and all manner of objects. Visitors pour in from across Val-d'Oise and neighbouring departments to rummage through stalls in search of rare finds or a good bargain.
The first Commeny flea market dates back to the 1980s, launched by a handful of Foyer Rural volunteers. Over the editions, the event has grown and built its reputation. Each year, the organising team coordinates around [email protected] to welcome sellers and visitors for a full day from 6am to 6pm. Free entry for all.
