The 1st Obernai Antiques - Earthenware - Brocante Fair marks an important step in the landscape of Alsatian antique dealer fairs. Held at the Salle des Fetes in Obernai, this very first edition brings together 14 professional merchants carefully selected, true enthusiasts of their trade and heritage transmitters. Labelled 'Quality Authenticity' by the National Union of the Antique Trade, Second-hand Goods and Art Galleries (SNCAO-GA), the fair offers collectors, decorators and art lovers the guarantee of strict requirements: all objects presented are subject to verification of authenticity and provenance by the professional exhibitors.
Organised by the Association of Friends of Sarreguemines Earthenware, this new fair gives a very special place to old earthenware. Visitors will discover remarkable pieces from the great manufactures of eastern France: Sarreguemines earthenware, famous for its 19th-century printed decorations, earthenware from Niderviller, a Lorraine manufacture founded in 1735, as well as productions from Luneville, Saint-Clement and other earthenware centres. Alongside these specialities, the stands offer a wide range of quality antiques and brocante: 18th and 19th century furniture, old paintings, art objects, jewellery, silverware, glassware, tableware and curiosities.
Obernai, birthplace of Saint Odile patroness of Alsace, is one of the most beautiful towns on the Wine Route. Its medieval historic centre, surrounded by ramparts, houses the market square, its Renaissance town hall, its bulbous-topped belfry, its six-bucket well and its half-timbered houses. Located at the foot of Mont Sainte-Odile, Obernai is an essential stop of Alsatian tourism and an ideal setting to host this new meeting place for lovers of antiques and old earthenware.
